A forward-thinking sustainability consultancy is growing its Building Performance capability and is seeking a hands-on Building Physics Engineer to help deliver performance-led, low-carbon design across a diverse portfolio. You'll join a team known for practical decarbonisation advice, net-zero roadmaps and asset-level performance improvements for clients across real estate and development.
The practice is active in the UK's net-zero conversation and contributes to industry guidance on the emerging UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, with team members engaged in sector events and thought leadership. You'll be part of a consultancy that blends rigorous analytics with clear, client-facing advice.
What you'll do
Deliver dynamic thermal simulations and energy modelling (e.g., IES-VE) to inform design decisions and compliance.
Undertake overheating assessments (TM52/TM59), operational energy studies (e.g., TM54), and Part L/SAP/SBEM compliance.
Produce energy and carbon strategies for planning and concept design, aligning recommendations with net-zero pathways.
Translate model outputs into clear, client-ready advice present at design team meetings and stakeholder workshops.
Support post-planning/delivery stages (parameter updates, optimisation, POE alignment) to close the "performance gap."
Collaborate with ESG/Net Zero specialists and wider sustainability consultants (climate risk, social value, biodiversity) to deliver holistic outcomes.
What you'll bring
4+ years (Intermediate) or 6+ years (Senior) in building physics/energy modelling within consultancy or design teams.
Proficiency in IES-VE (or similar), with a track record in thermal/energy modelling and UK compliance.
Strong grasp of UK frameworks and guidance (Part L, TM52/54/59 awareness of LETI/GLA helpful).
Confident communicator able to challenge and influence design decisions with evidence-based recommendations.
A genuine passion for net-zero and whole-life performance, with curiosity to engage in emerging standards and best practice.
Why Join?
Be part of a mission-driven consultancy committed to low-carbon, circular and resilient development with tangible client impact.
Work alongside recognised ESG & Net Zero specialists on projects that connect strategy to delivery.
Opportunities for professional development, thought leadership and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Hybrid working and a supportive culture that values initiative and innovation.
Whether you're working in the larger corporate companies or a small SME this is certainly one to take note of. Please don't hesitate to apply or get in touch for further info on the email below, we can arrange a confidential conversation anytime to suit you.
