Role Summary and Impact
This is a key role within the WPP Media finance team, responsible for leading and enhancing our core financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function.
Working in close partnership with our portfolio of media agencies, you will drive improvements in the forecasting, budgeting, and reporting processes. A primary focus will be to deliver robust management information that provides senior leadership with clear, timely, and actionable insights. This position plays a vital part in supporting strategic decision-making and ensuring financial clarity across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the continuous improvement of the Group’s budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring they are agile, accurate, and aligned with strategic objectives.
- Create and maintain sophisticated financial models to analy se current and past trends in performance
- Challenge assumptions and drive accountability to improve the quality and accuracy of budgets and forecasts.
- Conduct in-depth client profitability analysis to identify key drivers, risks, and opportunities, providing recommendations to enhance commercial performance.
- Act as a trusted finance business partner, working closely with agency budget holders and commercial teams to gather accurate and timely information.
- Manage junior direct report, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality output from the team.
- Champion best practices within the FP&A function and contribute to a culture of high performance and continuous learning.
- Undertake ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and strategic projects as required by senior management.
- Collaborate effectively with senior members of the Financial Reporting team, agency leadership, and the WPP Media EMEA finance community to ensure alignment and a holistic view of financial performance.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with experience in a dynamic FP&A role.
- Advanced proficiency in transforming complex datasets into robust financial models, actionable insights, and strategic recommendations. You go beyond the numbers to understand the "why."
- Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to partner with, challenge, and influence senior leadership and non-financial stakeholders. You can tell a compelling story with data.
- A continuous improvement mindset with a track record of optimising financial planning processes and enhancing reporting efficiency.
- Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end financial planning cycles, including annual budgets and quarterly forecasts in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proven line management experience with a passion for leading, mentoring, and developing junior colleagues
- Strong Excel skills are essential for complex modelling and data manipulation.
Desirable Attributes:
- Hands-on experience with financial systems such as Mediaocean, SAP BFC, or Adaptive Planning
- Previous experience within the Media sector
