Senior Data Risk Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Data Risk Manager.
You will be responsible for leading the oversight, governance and management of data risk across Global Private Banking and Wealth and Premier, ensuring that the causes and consequences of data risk are understood, assessed, governed and mitigated through effective controls and robust risk management practices.
You will act as a key first line partner to ensure that data-related risks are identified early, escalated appropriately, evidenced in line with policy and regulatory expectations, and managed to the lowest sustainable residual risk level. You will also provide leadership on risk and control decisioning, governance packs, audit and regulatory responses, exception management and change-related control impact assessments for operational delivery.

In this role you will:
- Lead data risk identification and assessment by assessing risks arising from data quality, lineage, privacy, misuse, inaccurate reporting, weak governance or ineffective controls; define inherent and residual risk positions and recommend appropriate treatment actions
- Own and oversee the data risk and control framework for by defining control objectives, minimum control requirements, evidence standards and risk-to-control mappings, ensuring alignment to HSBC policy, standards and non-financial risk frameworks
- Provide oversight of control monitoring arrangements by challenging whether KRIs, KPIs and other monitoring mechanisms are sufficient, complete and fit for purpose, and by reviewing breaches, trends and emerging themes requiring escalation or remediation
- Lead risk and control governance and escalation forums for material data risk topics, including KRI breaches, control failures, assurance findings, incidents and remediation actions; maintain decision logs, action tracking and escalation records
- Support and oversee control testing and assurance outcomes by reviewing testing plans, findings and thematic issues from CMA, periodic testing or other assurance activity, and ensuring actions are tracked through to closure.
- Produce and/or lead risk and control reporting and governance packs using Helios / NFR and related management information, highlighting material themes, overdue actions, control weaknesses, breaches and emerging risks for senior governance forums
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Strong experience in data risk, non-financial risk, operational risk, controls management, data governance or related disciplines within financial services
- Sound understanding of data management concepts including data governance, data quality, metadata, lineage, critical data elements, stewardship, data retention and data security
- Experience in risk assessment, control design, control monitoring, issue management, governance and escalation within a regulated environment
- Good knowledge of risk management frameworks, policy and standards development, and the practical application of control requirements across business and technology processes
- Experience supporting audit, regulatory reviews and assurance activity, including preparation of risk and control narratives and evidence coordination
- Demonstrated ability to interpret policy and risk appetite and translate these into practical thresholds, controls, governance and management information
