Head of Grocery & Online

Oddlygood Ltd
London

Rude Health and Oddlygood are part of the pioneering Oddlygood & Company, a fast-growth Scandinavian market leader listed in major retailers in more than 40 markets across the world. Together, we’re on a mission to become Europe’s leading challenger in plant-based food & drink, competing across the dairy-free categories against brands like Alpro and Oatly.

Rude Health, founded at Nick and Camilla Barnard’s kitchen table in Wandsworth in 2005, celebrates real flavour and bright living. We craft bold plant-based drinks and cereals from natural ingredients that are as delicious as they are nutritious.

Oddlygood, established in 2018, redefines plant-based with products so delicious you’ll forget they’re made from plants—think irresistible drinks, “gurts,” desserts, and cheeses. Backed by Valio, Finland’s largest dairy cooperative, and Mandatum, a Nordic growth equity investor, we deliver exceptional quality and innovation in every product.

Oddlygood UK is searching for a dynamic, visionary leader to become our Head of UK Grocery and Online . This is a key leadership role at Oddlygood UK. You will drive the growth of Rude Health — one of the UK’s original plant-based challengers — and launch Oddlygood®, an exciting Finnish brand (the #1 brand in its home market), through a winning UK Grocery and Online strategy.

You’ll build and lead a high-performing team to grow sales and market share profitably, forging long-term customer relationships focused on category growth. You’ll make smart commercial decisions to increase distribution, rate of sale, availability, and visibility — staying ahead of the competition.

You will actively seek out time with retail partners and pursue every commercial opportunity, instilling this hustle mentality across the Oddlygood UK team. As a cultural leader with a ‘people first’ mindset, you’ll think like a founder and shape & implement our business strategy alongside the UK Management Team (MT) and Group Leadership Team (LT).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit, develop, motivate and mobilise an engaged and envied team, inspiring a winning performance culture and a team which acts as a beacon for our Oddlygood Ltd values
  • Act as a performance and cultural leader, positively contributing to the UK Management Team to drive market beating performance and supporting the development of the total UK team in line with our company values.
  • Think broadly across sales, supply, cost/margin, marketing insights and people to develop and execute a winning commercial strategy & plan for our UK Grocery and Online customers
  • Get the whole business focused on prioritising our 3 top grocery customers. Challenge the MT and LT to provide all you need to enable you to deliver your profitable winning customer plans & budgets across the 4Ps.
  • Build a strong network across our Grocery & Online retail partners, inspiring them to be Oddlygood® and Rude Health advocates, resulting in brand and category growth.
  • Think and act like a founder and leave no stone unturned to grow Oddlygood® and Rude Health’s distribution, ROS, availability and visibility ahead of our competitors.
  • Ensure all account management tasks and responsibilities are effectively covered for the customers in your channels (including annual growth strategy, JBP’s, promo planning + analysis, accurate forecasting and customer administration).
  • Lead accurate forecasting with the operations team to ensure efficient supply chain
  • Anticipate & resolve commercial challenges and opportunities; provide solutions, make recommendations and take the right decisions, not the easy ones.
  • Lead the monthly UK Sales Performance and Insights (USPI) meeting, continuously improving the quality of insight, implications, recommendations and actions.
  • Work collaboratively with our Category Manager to:
  • Be the best student of the category: gather & share insights & keep fingers on the pulse on pricing, promotion, NPD, ATL, merchandising from all different data sources – turning into action where relevant
  • Develop data & insight-based progressive ‘4 Ps’ commercial plans which enable Rude Health and Oddlygood to ‘win’ in our UK customers in your category
  • Educate, inspire and drive the NAMs and wider team to deliver our commercial goals for your categories
  • Maximise the commercial impact of our data:
    • Robust and insightful analysis of our data to deliver implications and recommendations to the MT, LT and wider business – turning these into actions that impact performance.
    • Manipulate & consolidate our weekly EPOS data, sharing weekly insights with the business
    • Develop compelling data and insight-led ‘sell ins’ to inspire NAMs to wow their customers.

KEY SKILLS:

  • Inspirational commercial leadership skills, including abilities to:
    • Recruit & develop & mobilise an engaged UK Grocery team with the capabilities to execute your strategy
    • Develop & execute a progressive commercial strategy which supports our one company, two brand mission & 3 Yr profitable growth strategy
  • Be comfortable being a challenger AND a ‘scaler’: ability to balance the needs of a scale up (Rude Health) and a start-up (Oddlygood®)
  • Operate effectively and efficiently during periods of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity
    • Build outstanding customer relationships and lead commercial conversations
    • Drive commerciality in your team and act as a role model in grasping commercial opportunities with our customers
    • Drive a grocery-customer-centric mindset throughout the business, ensuring our plans deliver on customers’ needs
    • Proactively assess and provide commercial insights to the MT, LT & wider team (incl. new oppos) which positively influence and change business plans & results (incl. marketing and product choices)
  • Ruthlessly prioritise and manage your time effectively to handle both internal & external conflicts
    • Delegate responsibility, solve problems quickly & communicate clearly
    • Educate the team with your deep understanding our core UK customers & categories
