THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF GIRO’S PERSUASIVE POWERS
The Environment & City Management team in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. We love it when our work touches lives.
Take Stepping to the Beat, our 3k walk, jog or run for people with learning or physical disabilities or Autism, their families and carers. It’s a life-affirming, music-based event Coreen and Claudia are massively proud of – and they were keen for people to spread the word. So, imagine how thrilled they were when one of our residents, Giro, did just that. Advocating for people with disabilities at a planning meeting for transport in London, he was proudly wearing his event medal. And he decided to use it to encourage others. As he passed it around the room, Giro inspired lots more people with disabilities to get involved. Infectious enthusiasm goes a long way here.

The Role:
As a Network Co-ordination Assistant in our high profile Strategic Transport & Connectivity Department you can make your own powerful contribution to Westminster’s success. You’ll support the successful co-ordination and delivery of a number of interconnected services, work that will include processing Highways Licensing applications, raising invoices for rechargeable job orders, and invoicing utility companies for the permits they require.
One of your most important tasks will involve dealing with customer and stakeholder queries and complaints via email or over the telephone. We’ll also expect you to co-ordinate the statutory advertising of Traffic Orders, and support the development and review of Highways’ processes, systems and procedures. In addition, you’ll support the accident claims process, ensure monies due are invoiced for, received by the Council and reconciled correctly, and be responsible for monitoring and assisting with the recovery of debt.
Always ready to provide considered advice to internal and external colleagues, partners and customers, you’ll be committed to making an important contribution to the delivery of the Council’s objectives and priorities. You’ll also be dedicated to complying with all the relevant regulations including the requirements related to Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, the Human Rights Act, the Freedom of Information Act, the Data Protection Act and the City Council’s procurement code.
Please refer to the for more information.
About You:
With well developed experience of customer and stakeholder engagement and support, you’ll be capable of using database systems and possess the communication and interpersonal skills necessary to deal with a wide range of queries, complaints and investigations.
A collaborative team worker but also able to work independently, you’ll possess excellent literacy and numeracy skills, be capable of planning, organising and prioritising your work, and producing it to the highest standards. A natural problem solver with the ability to identify and resolve issues at speed and to tight deadlines, you should also be methodical and have good attention to detail.
Some knowledge of income and debt recovery would be desirable, and although not essential, experience of working within highways, licensing, the wider construction industry or the compliance and regulatory sectors would be a bonus.
