Assistant Baker

Boxcar Group is looking for a talented Assistant Baker to join our small but mighty production team. Working alongside our Head Baker, you’ll help craft exceptional viennoiserie and laminated pastries that supply our two busy Boxcar sites. This is a hands-on role where precision, pace, and pride in your work make all the difference.

What you’ll be doing:

• Rolling, folding, and shaping beautiful laminated doughs with care and consistency.
• Producing high-quality croissants, pastries, cakes and cookies for daily service.
• Maintaining exacting standards across volume production; Quality comes first, every time.
• Keeping your section clean, organised, and set for smooth overnight shifts.
• Following all food safety, hygiene, and allergen practices to the highest standard.

We’re looking for as Assistant Baker who:

• Has experience in professional pastry or bakery kitchens, with strong lamination skills.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment where quality and efficiency go hand in hand.
• Takes genuine pride in their craft; You care about texture, colour, consistency and finish.
• Is self-motivated, organised, and reliable during night or early morning shifts.
• Has a positive, collaborative approach and enjoys being part of an independent group that values creativity and care.

Shift patterns: typically between 10pm–8am (depending on production schedule) - for now, we are an overnight operation.
