This is an exciting opportunity to enhance the University’s mentoring provision which forms a core component of the employability strategy, with long-term ambitions to offer every student a work-based learning opportunity as part of their studies.
Future Ready Mentoring offers three different types of career mentoring options to students and recent graduates to support their employability and career prospects, including the award-winning Career Mentoring Programme, Ask a Mentor service and Group Mentoring. The Group Mentoring Officer (Mentees) will specifically focus on supporting the implementation and delivery of Group Mentoring, which provides course-embedded, industry-specific and introduction to mentoring sessions for groups of students and recent graduates from across the University. Group mentoring sessions take place as part of timetabled teaching and involve industry professional mentors who facilitate discussions on a range of topics over a series of sessions, supporting students to develop their career ambitions and confidence.

The post holder will have experience of developing and delivering training for students and/or professionals, organising events, excellent organisation and communication skills and experience of working in a student support department or related service. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure, on time and to the highest standards, with various stakeholders including students, academics and volunteers.
