Accounts Manager | Mid-Tier Practice | North West London + Hybrid (Central London option)
Salary: up to £72k Competitive, based on experience
Are you a qualified Accounts Manager looking for a broad and autonomous role in a thriving mid-tier firm?
We're working closely with a well-established accountancy practice in North West London that is planning ahead for growth and future succession. With a total headcount of around 75, including a 35-strong accounts team, this firm offers the best of both worlds - the stability and structure of a mid-sized firm, combined with the autonomy and entrepreneurial environment of a smaller practice.
The Accounts Manager Opportunity:
Due to continued growth, the firm is looking to appoint a qualified Accounts Manager to support one of the firm's founding Partners. You will manage your own portfolio of unaudited clients including some groups across a varied range of sectors, overseeing statutory accounts and corporation tax work in line with FRS 102.
While you'll be given full ownership of your client portfolio, you'll work closely with the Managing Partner and keep them in the loop on progress and key developments. There's a strong existing team in place - around 6 Managers, a couple of Associate Directors, and a wider support team of seniors, semi-seniors and trainees - so you'll be well supported both in the day-to-day and in longer-term planning.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing a diverse portfolio of corporate clients including WIP and Billing building strong relationships, ensuring timely delivery, and keeping the Managing Partner updated
- Leading on year-end accounts preparation and corporation tax compliance, with full ownership from work planning through to finalisation
- Acting as the main point of contact for client queries, collaborating across departments to deliver joined-up advice
- Onboarding new clients and developing systems to improve workflow efficiency
- Mentoring juniors and overseeing day-to-day team activity, including planning, supervision, and reviews
- Ensuring high quality and efficient delivery of work while maintaining strong client relationships
- Playing a key role in capacity planning, billing, and contributing to internal meetings and wider business development
- Involvement in ad-hoc sell-side due diligence, company and group re-structures
About You
- ACA/ACCA qualified with at least five years' post-qualified experience
- Trained in and ideally still working within a mid-tier or similar sized practice
- Technically strong in UK GAAP and FRS 102
- Confident using CCH and Xero (adjustments, analysis and review)
- Proactive and organised with excellent interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working independently while keeping senior stakeholders informed
Location & Working Style:
The office is in, North West London, with flexible hybrid working available. The firm also maintains 12 hot desks in a Central London location for those who prefer occasional access to a more central base - although it's important to note that team culture and collaboration remain key, and occasional travel to, North West London will still be expected.
What's in it for you?
This is a genuinely progressive role with a clear path to Associate Director. If you're looking for more influence, more variety and more visibility with senior leadership, this could be your next move.
