Head of Acquisition
If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Acquisition.
Within SME Business Banking UK, the Revenue, Growth and Propositions function is building a step-change growth engine across acquisition, commercialisation, intermediaries and strategy and innovation. You'll define and deliver the end-to-end acquisition strategy (rather than direct selling), build best-in-class acquisition monitoring capabilities, and partner across Marketing, the SME frontline network, and the Retail Bank branch network to drive high-quality lead generation, conversion and a seamless onboarding experience.
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
In this role you’ll:
- Set the SME acquisition strategy across channels translating ambition into clear plans, priorities, and measurable outcomes
- Define target audiences and target clients (segments and priority profiles), partnering with colleagues to align targeting, value proposition and go-to-market focus
- Build and own acquisition performance management: establish the KPI framework, dashboards/MI, funnel governance, and regular performance cadence across lead generation through to booked/activated customers
- Partner with Marketing on digital lead generation: shape the digital acquisition approach, content and journey messaging, and ensure performance marketing activity is optimised to deliver volume and quality
- Shape the narrative and sales pitch alongside Marketing, ensuring a compelling and consistent story across the website journey and acquisition collateral
- Lead the rewards and benefits programme (beyond core banking products and features): define the strategy, partner model, and performance management to increase acquisition appeal and early-life engagement
- Drive experimentation and continuous improvement: develop test-and-learn capability and convert insight into scalable improvements
- Lead a small team and mobilise delivery through influence - working cross-functionally and across governance forums to align priorities, unblock delivery and land outcomes
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Proven experience defining and executing acquisition strategy in a complex, regulated environment
- Strong understanding of end-to-end acquisition funnels (lead generation to conversion to onboarding to activation) and the ability to create high-quality MI, performance rhythms and governance
- Working knowledge of digital acquisition and the ability to partner effectively with Marketing and Digital teams
- Customer-centric approach with experience improving journeys and onboarding, removing friction and lifting conversion/activation
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with a track record of delivering outcomes through teams you do not directly manage
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, managing competing priorities, and driving pace with appropriate risk and control discipline
- Confident communicator with the ability to align senior stakeholders on strategy, trade-offs and progress
Opening up a world of opportunity.
Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve. At HSBC, we’re dedicated to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces - no matter their gender, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age. We are committed to removing barriers and ensuring careers at HSBC are inclusive and accessible for everyone to be at their best. We take pride in being a Disability Confident Leader and will offer an interview to people with disabilities, long term conditions or neurodivergent candidates who meet the minimum criteria for the role.
