Tech Director
Join us!
We’re looking for a Technical Director to join our team at Futurice UK. As a Technical Director, you will take responsibility for technical strategy, client success, and delivery quality across multiple projects. You will support and develop a growing team of technologists and play an active role in evolving our technical capabilities and ways of working. You'll also be a visible thought leader and a champion of our values, guiding technical direction while fostering a healthy and inclusive culture.
About the role
You’re an experienced technologist with a strategic mindset, equally confident in architecture discussions, stakeholder communication, and hands-on problem-solving. You thrive in a consultancy environment where adaptability, clear communication, and impact are key. You enjoy supporting teams to do their best work and are energised by leading high-impact technical engagements across clients.
You are passionate about data and architecture, and how technology can shape modern organisations. You work well with ambiguity, can juggle multiple responsibilities, and have a good eye for both the big picture and the underlying technical details.
Technical skills
- Broad expertise across frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure, and data platforms.
- Strong experience leading and architecting complex software systems across multiple domains.
- Deep understanding of modern application design, system integration, and scalability challenges.
- Comfortable engaging in strategic conversations about data architecture, security, and platform design.
- Awareness of data privacy, compliance, and security practices.
Collaboration
- You’re confident working with client C-level, technical leads, and delivery managers alike.
- Trusted advisor to clients – able to shape delivery roadmaps, tech strategies and support presales conversations.
- Skilled at managing stakeholders and resolving complex delivery or technical challenges.
- Supportive mentor and people leader who helps individuals grow and teams thrive.
- You work well with ambiguity, helping teams find clarity and direction through uncertainty.
- Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and delivery leads to ensure we build the right thing, the right way.
Attitude and preferences
- Comfortable across methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid) and can guide others to adapt appropriately.
- You care about inclusive, healthy team cultures and psychological safety.
- Curious about emerging technologies and their practical application.
- You write and speak confidently about your work and support others to do the same.
- You think holistically about how architecture, people, and culture interact.
What you will be responsible for
- Overseeing multiple client projects from a technical leadership perspective – providing hands-on guidance, coaching teams, and supporting strategic alignment.
- Working with clients to define impactful, scalable and maintainable technical strategies.
- Partnering with Design, Product, and Delivery peers to align on goals and ensure consistent project success.
- Ensuring technical quality across projects and identifying risks early – working with teams to resolve them before they impact delivery.
- Supporting presales and commercial activities – leading technical input for proposals and pitches.
- Line managing senior technologists, helping them grow and perform at their best.
- Helping to define and evolve our technical practices, mentoring others, and setting a high standard across the community.
- Building strong relationships with client stakeholders and influencing decision-making with empathy and expertise.
- Promoting knowledge sharing, psychological safety, and high-performing team environments.
- Contributing to business growth and helping shape the future of Futurice UK.
At Futurice UK, we believe that our people are our greatest asset. When you join us as a Tech Director, you'll become part of a team that values your well-being, growth, and contributions.
