Why this role matters:
This is a milestone hire for Elexon. As our first Content Designer , you will define what great content design looks like across the organisation. You will shape our standards, guide our approach, and ensure that complex information is communicated clearly, consistently and in plain English for the customers who rely on us.
You won’t be joining an established team — you’ll be creating the foundations of content design at Elexon, influencing how we communicate across products, services and channels. Your work will directly impact the clarity, usability and accessibility of the information that underpins the UK electricity market.
What you’ll do:
• Lead the design of clear, user-centred content across digital services, guidance and communications
• Use insight, research and analytics to shape and continuously improve content and customer journeys
• Structure and organise content so it is easy to find, understand and act on across platforms
• Work in multidisciplinary teams from discovery onwards , collaborating with researchers, designers, product owners and developers
• Run workshops and work with subject matter experts to create accurate, meaningful information
• Champion accessibility, inclusion and plain English, setting the standard for content quality across Elexon
• Establish and manage content processes, including planning, publishing and iterating content over time
What you’ll bring:
• Strong writing and editing skills, with experience creating user-focused content for digital services
• The ability to simplify complex information into clear, concise and meaningful content
• Experience using research, insight or analytics to guide content decisions
• Knowledge of content strategy and information architecture
• Experience working collaboratively in agile or multidisciplinary teams
• Confident stakeholder engagement, particularly with subject matter experts
• A commitment to accessibility, inclusive design and plain English
Desirable
• Experience with CMS platforms (e.g., SharePoint or similar) • Experience designing forms, transactional journeys or UI copy • Basic understanding of HTML or SEO
