Longevity IFM Actuary (Hybrid/ 80-100% working degree)
Are you a nearly or newly qualified actuary who enjoys variety, problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration?
Join us as a Longevity Inforce Management Actuary and contribute to the effective management of Swiss Re’s global longevity reinsurance portfolio, a complex and growing line of business that plays a strategically important role in the company’s success.
This role offers the opportunity to apply your actuarial judgment across a wide range of tasks — from validating complex outputs and reviewing client data, to improving operational processes and working directly with clients to resolve issues. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys applying their technical expertise in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment.
About the Role
As a core member of the Longevity Inforce Management (LIFM) team, you’ll report to the Actuarial Lead of the LIFM team and play a key role in managing Swiss Re’s portfolio of existing longevity reinsurance treaties — working at the intersection of technical delivery, commercial performance, and operational execution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing and reviewing technical tasks, including experience analysis, validating client data, claims, premium, and settlement calculations
- Providing oversight and support to more junior team members, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to process
- Helping assess operational implications of new treaties before signing, and supporting business onboarding activities across functions
- Contributing to process improvements, including documentation and IT platform enhancements, to boost efficiency and support future growth
- Supporting interactions with clients, particularly around resolving queries, managing disputes, and fulfilling contractual obligations
About the Team
The Longevity Inforce Management (LIFM) team plays a central role in managing Swiss Re's large and expanding longevity portfolio. Our goal is to ensure that the business we’ve already written continues to deliver long-term value — through accurate data, insightful analysis, and strong operational processes.
We work globally, collaborating with teams across Pricing, Sales, Valuation, and more. Our team thrives on problem-solving, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. We’re a motivated and supportive group who value curiosity, creativity, and learning from each other.
About You
You're a motivated actuary who has strong technical skills, enjoys working with data, navigating complexity, and helping others succeed. You ask the right questions, communicate clearly, and take pride in delivering high-quality work. You’re always looking for ways to improve how things are done — you have a strong interest in data analysis and turning technical insight into practical outcomes.
Essentials
- Qualified or nearly qualified actuary
- 3+ years of experience in pensions, insurance, or reinsurance
- Strong actuarial technical knowledge and skillset including excel modelling, working with large data sets, actuarial experience studies and assumption settings
- Strong communicator with experience collaborating across functions
Nice to Haves
- Previous experience in longevity industry, exposure to reinsurance treaties, bulk annuity contracts, or legal documentation
- Experience mentoring junior colleagues or reviewing their work
- Knowledge in other programming languages such as R and Python is a strong plus
We are looking forward to your application!
