Senior Platform Engineer

Business Unit:  Technology Operations & Cyber Security – Core IAAS 
Salary: £40,800 - £58,000 - per annum DOE + benefits
Location : Located close to Clydebank/Hillington as Data Centre attendance is required at times during the day and on call
Contract Type:  Permanent - Full Time 

Our Team - Our team manage Open Systems Storage (VMware, Windows, Rhel etc) estate for the bank. This includes day to day BAU work, Project work and incident support.

Within the team there are 2 main core functions, Storage & Backup and we also look after the banks San Infrastructure.

What you’ll be doing

Infrastructure Upgrades:

• Powermax, Data Domain, Isilon upgrades
• Netbackup Infrastructure upgrades
• Netbackup Client upgrades
• Hardware refreshes

Patching:

• Netbackup Infrastructure and client patching
• Powermax, Data Domain, Isilon bug fix / security patching

Storage Allocations:

• Open systems, Oracle and File share storage provisioning
  Backups:
• Backup and restore job failure troubleshooting
• Backup policy management and configuration
• Working with application teams to determine and implement their backup requirements

We need you to have

• A sound understanding of the principles of resilience and operability in an enterprise storage environment
• Great experience of planning, preparing and delivering objectives.
• A desire and aptitude to continually grow your own knowledge and skills, and help others do the same
• A broad understanding of surrounding IT infrastructure: hardware, networking, data.
• An aptitude to quickly assimilate and understand complexity under pressure to diagnose and remediate technical issues.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment
