Design Manager

We are looking for a talented Design Manager to join our New Product Development team at Joseph Joseph. This role will be managing product development in one of our new complex product categories. The successful candidate will have confidence and experience developing complex consumer goods, from design conception to manufacture. Working regularly with our Creative Director, this is an exciting opportunity to join an inspirational and ambitious team.

What you will be doing:

• Accountable for multiple, fast-paced complex projects launching into a global marketplace.
• Identifying relevant opportunities to consistently drive category innovation and growth.
• Resolving design detail and moving development forward in an appropriate direction.
• Collaborating with both in-house and external designers and engineers.
• Liaising directly with packaging designers and manufacturing suppliers.
• Managing projects in-line with seasonal critical paths, ensuring all products launch on time.
• Assessing technical development issues, defining scope for resolution, communicating options, and driving resolution.
• Arranging delivery and review of all prototypes and samples from factory
• Ensuring projects are kept within agreed budgets.
• Managing product costs in-line with margin targets.

What we need from you:

• An undergraduate (or masters) degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related course.
• Strong product development experience with a proven track record of success.
• An ability to effectively manage time whilst working to tight critical paths on multiple projects.
• A natural flair to clearly communicate ideas to senior teams.
• A good understanding of manufacturing techniques and processes.
• Previous experience working with factories, ideally in the Far East.
• Good knowledge of design applications such as, Adobe CS, Solidworks.
• A creative thought process with a self-motivated drive to deliver creative solutions at product level.
• The ability to challenge conventional thinking, whilst keeping ideas commercial.
