Business Resilience Risk Manager
Role Overview
Purpose:
As a Business Resilience Risk Manager, you will champion a transparent and proactive risk culture across Brightwell. You will play a key role in embedding the three lines of defence model, strengthening business resilience, and ensuring regulatory compliance and ultimately supporting the best outcomes for our members.
You will:
- Lead the maintenance of an effective business resilience framework proportionate to Brightwell’s size and complexity.
- Provide appropriate advice, support and assurance to ensure Brightwell develops and progresses its approach to operational risk and business resilience across relevant areas of the business and in line with current regulatory requirements.
- Provide independent oversight and constructive challenge to first-line functions.
- Collaborate closely with internal audit and other stakeholders to maintain a strong control environment.
- Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on operational risk and business resilience.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the business resilience framework, including business continuity planning, policies, and strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the relevant business areas.
- Design and conduct testing, training, and simulation exercises to validate the effectiveness of continuity plans and enhance organisational readiness.
- Monitor emerging risks and industry trends, adapting resilience strategies to evolving threats and business needs.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to conduct risk assessments, business impact analysis, and scenario planning to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats to critical business areas.
- Support the implementation of an effective Enterprise Risk Management Framework and related policies.
- Assist with the risk and scenario sections of the ICARA.
- Deliver clear, timely, and accurate risk reporting to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
- Provide risk input on projects and change activities, including maintaining risk registers and heat maps.
- Constructively challenge stakeholders at all levels and escalate concerns when necessary.
- Escalate any areas of concern to the Head of Operational Risk.
- This role is considered a Conduct Rules role under the SMCR regime. You must comply with all relevant regulatory responsibilities assigned to the role.

Desirable knowledge, skills & experience:
- Experience in operational risk and business resilience
- Understanding of UK defined benefit pension scheme regulations.
- Demonstrable experience of working in a regulated environment (e.g., FCA).
- Ability to interpret and apply regulations and policies.
- Relevant risk management qualifications.
- Familiarity with risk software.
