PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £24,800 - £34,800 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Support BBC Learning English’s China team. This includes administrative and production support; ensuring all required paperwork is completed, uploading content to various technical systems, working with the production team in studio and editing audio, video, images etc as required. Support wider departmental output as needed. This role may involve shift work, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. The department primarily produces digital content for English language learners via its own sites, podcasts, social media platforms and partners. As part of BBC News, the World Service delivers trusted, multilingual content across platforms to hundreds of millions weekly, making this an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful, global education and communication. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Support the Mandarin production team in creating and delivering high-quality English language teaching multimedia content.
- Upload and manage content across internal systems and Chinese social media platforms, engaging with user comments and feedback.
- Handle audience correspondence, including emails, letters, and other forms of communication.
- Assist in content creation and syndication using tools like Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, and FTP.
- Oversee and verify the syndication of content to internal and external partners.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: • Must be fully fluent in Mandarin (simplified) across written and spoken forms.• Strong command of English, with the ability to work confidently in all formats.
• Experience managing Chinese social media accounts, including uploading content and engaging with user comments.
• Proficiency in image editing software and familiarity with tools like Photoshop.
• Solid technical skills, including experience with content management systems and basic audio/video editing.
