This newly created role of Technical Services Director reflects the teams needs to not only serve the existing and future complex clients’ needs that require policy wordings but a desire to enhance and build upon our broader technical abilities in collaboration with our existing resources
The role might suit someone from the underwriting or broking community with relevant aviation expertise . The office location could be remote/ home working although a preference for some London based presence is preferred and considered ideal
Purpose of the role:
The Director will lead the build out of our Technical Services Division within the Aviation Division of Price Forbes, incorporating the former business units of Piiq, Price Forbes, Besso and Ed Broking teams.
Key Role Accountabilities:
- To assume the activities required and associated with the newly created role of Senior Technical Services Director across the division
- While not exhaustive the following are some of the core responsibilities and activities
- Prepare policy wordings as required to support the major clients
- Evaluate our current policy wording client count inventory / methods of storage and archiving
- Assess the volume of policy wordings vs resource currently available and recommend resource changes as required
- Review our current policy wording templates and where necessary look to expand and improve in conjunction with relevant colleagues
- To audit our current technical capabilities across the team and identify subject matter experts in relevant segments and identify knowledge gaps that require further training for more junior colleagues
- Lead the build out of aviation clause library for all colleagues to access
- Establish an internal governance protocol for those colleagues currently authorised to issue policy wordings
- Work with other appropriate colleagues to review, update and enhance current slip templates.
- Chair a monthly Technical Services Group drawing from current team resources
- Brief the entire team on relevant matters arising at the monthly all colleague call
- Participate with market technical forums as required
- Interact with insurers on an informal basis as required to enhance our capabilities
- Act as the LIIBA representative for the team
- Carry out additional projects, duties and tasks as identified and or agreed with CEO and Senior Management.
- Review and oversee our QA protocols, supporting and guiding colleagues that have delegated authority to approve draft slips.
- Assess our current protocols for issuing Certificates of Insurance
- Lead the delivery of ad-hoc training/ mentoring and guidance – not only for Account Managers but also for the wider Aviation Teams with respect to coverage, clauses and wordings.
- Client interaction and travel as required
Qualifications & Experience:
- Aviation market experience
- Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
- knowledge of the EU Regulation 785/2004 and 285/2010
- To be aware of legal and jurisdictional requirements in territorial limits worked on and maintain up to date knowledge of current market practices
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
