We're looking for an inspiring Professional Development & Apprenticeship Lead to play a pivotal role in shaping the skills, careers and capabilities that will power Capita's future. This is a fantastic 3‑month contract for someone passionate about learning, development and driving meaningful change.
In this role, you'll lead the strategy, governance and delivery of Capita's apprenticeship and professional development pathways - ensuring they are skills‑led, inclusive, commercially focused, and forward‑looking. It supports Capita's ambition to be a skills‑based organisation, where colleagues can grow, progress and contribute meaningful value to clients and communities.

Apprenticeship Leadership & Governance
• Own the full apprenticeship lifecycle across Capita, from programme design through to learner completion and progression.
• Ensure full compliance with ESFA funding rules, Ofsted expectations and Capita governance standards.
• Optimise apprenticeship levy utilisation, ensuring strong return on investment and minimal waste.
• Manage levy gifting process as part of Social Value commitments
Programme Quality & Learner Experience
• Ensure a consistently high‑quality learner experience that reflects Capita's values of inclusion, collaboration and high performance.
• Monitor learner progress, completion and outcomes, intervening early where risks arise.
• Oversee gateway, assessment readiness and end‑point assessment success.
• Align apprenticeship over with Capita Academy programmes.
Stakeholder & Partner Engagement
• Work in close partnership with People Business Partners, senior leaders and functional teams to identify capability gaps and co‑create development solutions.
• Build strong, effective relationships with external training providers, assessment organisations and professional bodies.
• Enable line managers to actively support and coach learners, embedding development into day‑to‑day performance conversations.
Insight, Impact & Continuous Improvement
• Define and track clear measures of success, including skills acquisition, performance uplift, progression, retention and engagement.
• Provide clear, compelling insight to senior stakeholders on impact, value and outcomes.
• Use data, feedback and insight to continuously improve programmes and learning pathways.
Culture, Inclusion & Ways of Working
• Champion inclusive, accessible learning opportunities that support colleagues from all backgrounds to succeed.
• Embed Capita's values into learning design, delivery and leadership behaviours.
• Contribute to wider People, Culture & Capability initiatives, including talent, succession and skills‑based workforce planning.
What you'll bring
• Significant experience in learning and development, with end‑to‑end ownership of apprenticeship programmes.
• Strong working knowledge of the UK apprenticeship system, levy funding and compliance.
• Experience designing professional development programmes that deliver measurable business impact.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and work effectively in a complex, matrixed organisation.
• Strong analytical skills with experience translating insight into action.
• Understanding of skills‑based organisations and modern workforce planning.
