Finance Assistant - Rainham

A busy and well-organised secondary school in Rainham is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join its finance team. This is a full-time, permanent role, ideal for someone with excellent numerical skills, strong attention to detail, and experience in administrative or financial support within an educational or similar setting.

Role Responsibilities

As a Finance Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing invoices, purchase orders, and payments accurately and on time.

  • Assisting with the preparation of budgets, reports, and financial summaries for management.

  • Supporting the collection and recording of school income, including trips, dinners, and other fees.

  • Liaising with staff, suppliers, and external agencies regarding financial transactions and queries.

  • Ensuring compliance with school financial policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.

  • Supporting the finance team with administrative tasks and general office duties as required.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in finance, accounts, or administrative roles.

  • Strong numerical and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and finance systems.

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Professional, reliable, and proactive with strong communication skills.

  • Understanding of data confidentiality and financial compliance standards.
