The Role – Graduate English Academic Mentor
As a Graduate English Academic Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting the English department and contributing to student progress across a range of abilities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing targeted one-to-one and small group English support.
- Assisting in the delivery of engaging, high-quality English lessons.
- Helping students prepare for GCSE English exams, coursework, and comprehension tasks.
- Encouraging a deeper understanding of English language and literature through thoughtful discussion.
- Supporting students in overcoming barriers to learning, particularly in reading and writing.
- Preparing engaging learning resources and maintaining a well-organised classroom environment.
- Collaborating with SEN, pastoral, and teaching staff to ensure every student reaches their potential.
What We’re Looking For – Graduate English Academic Mentor
- Educated to degree level (2:1 or above) in English, English Literature, or a related subject.
- Academically strong, with excellent GCSE and A-Level English results.
- Passionate about education and committed to helping young people succeed.
- Confident communicators with strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Adaptable, reflective, and enthusiastic about learning and development.
- Interested in a long-term career in education, whether through teaching or academic mentoring.
- Previous experience working with young people is beneficial, but not essential.
