Senior Business Analyst
Hello. We’re Teya.
Teya was founded on a simple belief: local businesses deserve better.
They are the cafés, restaurants, salons, shops and entrepreneurs that bring character to our high streets, create jobs and keep communities moving. Yet for too long, financial services has made life harder for them - with clunky tools, poor support and complexity that gets in the way of running a business.
Teya exists to change that.
We’re building a financial platform for local businesses across Europe - one built around simple tools, thoughtful design and real human support. Our Members rely on us to help them run their business with confidence, and that responsibility shapes the way we work.
We move fast. We care about quality. We stay close to the detail. And we believe great performance and genuine hospitality should go hand in hand.
If you want to build meaningful products, solve real problems and make a genuine difference for local businesses, we’d love to hear from you
Your Mission
As a Senior Business Analyst at Teya, you will sit at the heart of how we understand, measure and improve the economic value of our products. You will work across our credit, acquiring and business account products, solving complex business problems through rigorous analysis and building the models and frameworks needed to support better strategic decisions.
You will take ownership of problems from definition through to insight delivery. This may mean working with existing models and analytical frameworks, or starting from scratch to determine what data, assumptions and methodology are required to answer an important business question. You will work closely with teams across Product, Finance, Marketing, Engineering and Growth to turn complex questions into structured analysis and ultimately into decisions and actions.
Your work will inform some of the most important decisions at Teya, from pricing and customer segmentation to product strategy, investment and portfolio performance. You will be expected to bring structure to ambiguous problems, challenge existing thinking and identify where our assumptions do not reflect what is actually happening in the business.
You will operate at the intersection of data, analytics and business strategy. Whether building a new NPV or unit economics model, investigating changes in merchant behaviour, designing an analytical framework for a new product or identifying an opportunity to improve commercial performance, you will be responsible for getting to the right answer and making sure it is understood and acted upon.
You will also play an important role in raising the analytical standard of the team — bringing a systematic approach to problem-solving, developing robust analytical methodologies and communicating business-critical insights clearly to senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Own complex analytical and business problems from initial definition through to delivery, structuring ambiguous questions into clear hypotheses, analytical approaches and actionable recommendations.
Build models and analytical frameworks from first principles where required, identifying the appropriate data, methodology and assumptions needed to answer strategic business questions.
Build and maintain Net Present Value, unit economics and customer lifetime value models across Teya’s credit, acquiring and business account products.
Conduct deep-dive analysis of customer behaviour, product performance and portfolio economics to identify the drivers of value and uncover opportunities for improvement.
Use SQL and Python to extract, manipulate and analyse large datasets, developing robust analysis that can be translated into business decisions.
Design, implement and analyse experiments, including A/B tests, holdouts and natural experiments, to test hypotheses around pricing, credit risk, segmentation and product strategy.
Challenge existing models, assumptions and methodologies, validating outputs against real-world performance and identifying where forecasts or frameworks need to evolve.
Develop metrics, dashboards and analytical frameworks that allow teams to understand performance and quickly identify where actual outcomes are diverging from expectations.
Partner with Product, Finance, Marketing, Engineering and Growth to translate analytical findings into commercial, product and strategic decisions.
Proactively identify data gaps, analytical limitations and opportunities to improve how Teya measures and understands its business.
Communicate complex analysis clearly and effectively, producing compelling recommendations and presenting business-critical insights to senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
Take ownership of projects with a high degree of autonomy, driving work forward while bringing stakeholders together around a clear analytical approach and outcome.
Support the development of analytical capability across the wider team through strong methodologies, knowledge sharing and a high standard of analytical thinking.
Requirements
3+ years' experience in business analytics, credit analytics, valuations, strategy, customer analytics or a similarly data-driven environment, ideally within financial services, lending, fintech or another commercially complex business.
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics or a related discipline. Advanced degree is a plus.
Strong proficiency in SQL and experience using Python for data analysis and modelling.
Demonstrated ability to structure and solve complex, ambiguous business problems using a systematic, hypothesis-driven approach.
Experience building analytical models or frameworks from scratch, including defining the methodology, identifying the relevant data and developing appropriate assumptions.
Strong commercial judgement and the ability to connect analytical findings to business performance, strategic priorities and decision-making.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to turn complex analysis into clear, compelling recommendations and influence senior stakeholders.
Comfortable presenting analytical findings and recommendations to senior leadership and using data to shape strategic discussions.
Self-directed and comfortable operating with ambiguity, with a track record of taking ownership and driving projects through to completion.
Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Familiarity with lending economics is a plus — expected loss, risk-adjusted returns, cohort repayment curves, NPV or customer lifetime value.
