An ambitious Bexley primary seeks a highly organised and strategic School Business Manger to lead school operations from January 2026. The successful School Business Manger (SBM) will join senior leaders, shape the school’s financial planning and operational systems, and be central to school improvement from January 2026. Planning and handover activity will take place in the weeks before January 2026, with formal induction in January 2026 and the SBM in post from January 2026.

Role snapshot
The School Business Manger will manage budget setting and monitoring, lead procurement and contracts as the SBM, ensure compliance with statutory reporting and support HR and facilities. The SBM will prepare returns and present clear budget reports to the Headteacher and governors beginning with the first term after January 2026. As School Business Manger you will also oversee site security, health & safety procedures and vendor relationships.

An effective School Business Manger will deliver balanced budgets, ensure robust internal controls, and free teachers to focus on learning. The SBM will demonstrate timely reports, cost-effective procurement and measurable efficiency savings by the first review after January 2026. The SBM will also strengthen parent and community confidence through transparent administration.

Candidate essentials - the SBM we need
• Proven experience as a School Business Manger or in a senior school operations role.
• Strong financial skills (budget setting, forecasting) and MIS familiarity - an SBM who can produce clear accounts.
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with governors, the Head and external partners.
• Readiness to attend pre-start briefings before January 2026, induction in January 2026, and take up post January 2026 as the SBM.
