Premises Manager Role in an Outstanding Secondary School
An Outstanding Secondary School in Hounslow is seeking to appoint an experienced and proactive Premises Manager to lead the day-to-day management of its extensive school site from September. About the Role
The successful candidate will oversee the effective management, maintenance, and security of the school estate, ensuring the site remains safe, compliant, and fully operational throughout the year.
Leading the premises team, you will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, health and safety compliance, site security, contractor management, and the ongoing development of the school's facilities. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and School Business Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining a high-quality learning environment that supports the school's ambitious vision.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day management of the school premises and site team
Oversee planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs
Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation and statutory requirements
Manage contractors and monitor the quality of external works
Oversee site security, access control, alarms, and CCTV systems
Maintain accurate compliance, maintenance, and inspection records
Support capital improvement projects and site development initiatives
Manage budgets relating to premises, maintenance, and facilities
Ensure the school buildings and grounds remain safe, secure, and presented to an excellent standard

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Previous experience managing premises, facilities, or estates
Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance
Experience managing maintenance programmes and contractors
Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
Ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to operational issues
Commitment to maintaining high standards across all aspects of the school site
Desirable
Experience working within a school or educational setting
IOSH or NEBOSH Health and Safety qualification
Knowledge of statutory compliance including fire safety, asbestos, and legionella management
Experience managing premises budgets and capital projects
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within education
