The Role
The school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Welfare Officer to join its pastoral support team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting student wellbeing and ensuring that pupils have the support they need to overcome barriers to learning.
Working closely with pastoral leaders, safeguarding staff and teaching colleagues, the Welfare Officer will provide support to students experiencing emotional, social or personal challenges.
This role requires strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to supporting young people.
Key Responsibilities
Providing pastoral and wellbeing support for students
Acting as a key point of contact for student welfare concerns
Supporting safeguarding and child protection procedures
Working closely with pastoral leaders to monitor student wellbeing
Liaising with parents and carers regarding welfare matters
Supporting attendance improvement initiatives
Maintaining accurate records of student support interventions
Working with external agencies when additional support is required
Person Specification
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience working with young people in a support role
A compassionate and patient approach
Good organisational and record-keeping skills
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
Ability to work collaboratively with staff and families
Experience in education, youth work or social care settings would be beneficial.
