Senior Coronial Officer
Senior Coronial Officer needed in North London Paying £30.67 per hr ref OR107839
Full time on a temporary basis
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of coronial investigations and inquests, including complex and high-profile cases.
- Conduct enquiries and gather evidence, statements, reports, medical records, and social history information to assist coroners in making judicial decisions.
- Liaise with bereaved families, witnesses, legal representatives, healthcare professionals, police, pathologists, mortuary staff, and other stakeholders.
- Provide advice and guidance regarding coronial processes and inquest procedures.
- Arrange post-mortem examinations, including invasive and CT imaging procedures.
- Coordinate inquest hearings, pre-inquest reviews, and witness attendance.
- Prepare disclosure bundles, correspondence, certificates, and other legal documentation.
- Maintain accurate records using case management systems such as Civica.
- Manage matters relating to burial, cremation, repatriation, mortuary releases, and transfers of investigations.
- Escalate urgent and sensitive issues to the Coroner or Lead Coronial Officer.
- Ensure compliance with the Coroners and Justice Act 2009, Coroners (Investigations) Regulations 2013, Coroners (Inquests) Rules 2013, Notification of Deaths Regulations 2019, Human Tissue Act, and relevant case law.
Senior Coronial Officer Additional Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a small team of Coronial Officers.
- Provide advice and guidance on complex investigations.
- Monitor service standards, performance, and quality of case management.
- Assist with training and development of team members.
