Mobile Automotive Technician
About the Role
Mobile Mechanic – Service, Maintenance & Repair
As a Mobile Mechanic for the organization, you will bring expert vehicle maintenance and diagnostic skills directly to customers – from driveways to office car parks. You’ll work independently, equipped with a fully‑fitted van, fuel card, uniform, tools and diagnostic kit, delivering first‑class service without the constraints of a traditional garage.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine servicing, diagnostics, repairs and checks on a variety of light vehicles on‑site.
- Provide clear, friendly advice to customers and represent the organization with pride.
- Manage stock levels, complete required reporting and maintain accurate service records.
- Adapt to a variety of daily tasks – from mechanical work to customer interaction – while making sound decisions on the spot.
What We’re Looking For
- Level 2 light‑vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience as a vehicle technician working with a range of light vehicles.
- Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 penalty points.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
- Ability to think quickly, solve problems on the move and manage your own schedule.
Working Conditions & Compensation
- Hours: 40 hours per week, core hours 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, with one Saturday shift every four weeks.
- Base salary: £38,625 per annum.
- On‑target earnings: Up to £50,000 including bonuses and premium‑rate overtime.
- Guaranteed overtime option: After the first month you can opt‑in to work extra rest days at £30 hour⁻¹, potentially adding £3,000–£5,000 to your annual earnings.
- Overtime availability: Monday–Saturday, 8 am – 8 pm.
Benefits & Perks
- Earnings that motivate: Competitive base pay with clear pathways to higher earnings.
- Vehicle & tools package: Company van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools and diagnostic kit provided from day one.
- Salary‑sacrifice scheme: After 12 months you can join a car‑purchase programme (including electric options) for tax‑efficient savings.
- Holiday entitlement: 23 days annual leave (rising to 25 days with service), plus bank holidays.
- Family & flexible leave: Paid family leave and flexible scheduling to support personal commitments.
- Pension & life cover: Employer‑matched pension contributions up to 6.5 % and life assurance up to 4 × salary (optional 10 × salary).
- Wellbeing support: 24/7 confidential assistance available to you and household members aged 16 +.
- Discount portal: Access to exclusive savings on retailers, holidays, tools, technology and more.
- Share scheme: Automatic enrolment in the colleague share programme after successful probation.
Growth & Development
The organization has a heritage of over 125 years and a commitment to innovation. You’ll benefit from continuous training, clear career progression pathways and the chance to become a valued stakeholder in the business through the share scheme. Our inclusive culture celebrates diversity, supports ambition and encourages you to bring your full self to work.
