An Outstanding School in Sutton is seeking an engaging and academically focused Sociology Teacher to join its Social Sciences Department. This role would suit someone who enjoys challenging students to think critically about society and develop well-supported arguments.

The successful candidate will primarily teach A-Level Sociology, delivering lessons across the relevant examination specification and preparing students for their final assessments.

You will teach areas such as education, families and households, crime and deviance, social stratification and research methods, depending on the course followed by the school.

Students will be expected to understand different sociological perspectives, evaluate theories and apply concepts to contemporary examples. You will therefore need to be confident developing analytical writing and encouraging students to support their arguments with relevant evidence.

The role will also include regular assessment, examination preparation and targeted support for students who require additional guidance.

Sociology Teacher - Experience and Qualifications

• Sociology Degree or related subject

• QTS or recognised teaching qualification

• Experience teaching Sociology

• Ability to teach KS5

• A-Level Sociology experience

• Strong knowledge of sociological theory

• Excellent analytical and written communication

• Confident classroom management

• Ability to lead meaningful academic discussion

• Strong assessment skills

• Experience preparing students for examinations

Salary

The salary for this Sociology Teacher position will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
