Designer - Womenswear (woven)
Job Description
As a Designer on womenswear woven casual you will help to deliver the assortment and develop the collection through all channels. You are responsible to support with a clear vision and targets of your department. In this role you will propose new ideas, development, fabric yarn and research to improve the COS collection, always with attention to detail. You will have a clear understanding of the COS aesthetic and the customer to ensure visual and design targets of the brand are met. You will constantly look for and bring to the table, new relevant fashion ideas. Your technical product knowledge must be to a confident standard, and you should be able to communicate this to design, buying and pattern teams.
What you will do:
- Ensure the development of the collection and trends each season for your department.
- Demonstrate a strong design identity in line with COS aesthetics, provide a sense of colour and details, deliver a high awareness of current trends.
- Responsible to create extensive research and sketches.
- Ensure that the collection caters for all customer end uses and is balanced regarding the triangle.
- Collaborate with all functions in the Design/Buying/Pattern department, to ensure you deliver an efficient workflow and operate-towards long- and short-term goals that you set for your department.
- Work alongside the Concept Designer and Head of Design to set the goals.
- Co-operate with the buying team to drive product development by consideration of relevant analyses and understanding the COS aesthetics and our customer.
- Guide, involve, inspire and develop Assistant and Junior Designer, challenge them to act with confidence.
- Work hands-on, creating drapes and mock-ups to ensure newness is created in the collection.
- Lead the fit meetings, ensuring the assistants deliver clear sketches to buying and production.
- Continuously review the assortment and act on selling and fashion trends.
- Identify areas for improvement and seek out future design trends and develop/adapt new ways of working.

What you need to succeed
- Demonstrated background in womenswear woven design, experience in denim beneficial
- A degree in Fashion Design or a related discipline.
- In-depth knowledge of textiles, garment construction, and fit, with a strong technical foundation.
- A sharp eye for colour, detail, and proportion, with the ability to translate concepts into refined, modern designs.
- A well-developed understanding of current and emerging fashion trends, with the ability to apply them thoughtfully to the COS aesthetic.
- Passion for sustainable fashion, with knowledge of innovative materials and responsible product development practices.
- A strong team player who communicates ideas clearly and inspires those around them.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, creative environment with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
