Senior SEND Assessment & Review Officer - Tribunal/ Compliance
£300 per day
3 month contract
Hybrid working - South East London
Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Senior SEND Assessment & Review Officer to manage the Tribunal and Compliance team for our local authority client in South East London.
The Senior SEND Assessment & Review Officer will be responsible for overseeing complex cases whilst engaging with parents, carers and children/ young people with SEND to ensure the needs assessment process is clear, inclusive and collaborative.
Essential Requirements:
- Strong, current knowledge of Education, Health and Care (EHC) legislation and the SEND Code of Practice 2015.
- Ability to present cases using strong verbal and written skills, particularly during SENDist tribunals.
- Experience of working for a Local Authority with a good knowledge of the SEN assessment and review processes.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Prepare for and represent the local authority at Tribunal hearings.
- Manage and co-ordinate the needs assessment and review process to guarantee compliance with SEND legislation.
- Chair EHC planning meetings, ensuring that they are person centred and focused on positive outcomes.
Skills required:
- Ability to challenge and support schools to meet the needs of children and young people with SEND.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage own workload to meet legal deadlines.
- Able to assess complex situations, make sound judgements and manage risk in high-pressure situations.
