Patient and Compassionate Female Carer Wanted to Support 14-Year-Old Girl
We’re a friendly family looking for a caring, understanding female carer (ideally in her 20s–40s) to support our 14-year-old daughter at home. She is autistic, with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs. She’s funny, creative, and full of personality — but she can sometimes find it difficult to connect with adults or follow directions, so a calm, patient, and flexible approach is really important.
She isn’t attending school regularly at the moment and spends a lot of time at home, so we’re looking for someone who can adapt to her routine and help create gentle, positive days. On mornings when she feels able to attend school, support will include helping her get ready, having breakfast, and taking her to school.
What the role involves:
- Building trust and connection through warmth, patience, and consistency
- Supporting calm, enjoyable activities (e.g. art, crafts, gentle walks, cooking)
- Encouraging emotional well-being and self-confidence
- Helping with morning routines and school drop-offs when possible
- Light household support related to her care
- Working closely with us, her parents, to provide consistency and understanding
About You:
- Kind, patient, and emotionally aware
- Female (preferred, for comfort and relationship-building)
- Experience supporting autistic children or young people with emotional needs (formal or informal)
- Calm under pressure and able to use a gentle, non-authoritative approach
- Flexible and reliable with time
- A driver preferred for school runs, but not essential
- DBS and safeguarding checks
We offer:
- A warm, supportive family environment
- Flexible hours
- Competitive hourly rate
- The chance to make a real difference in a young person’s life
Please note that this is NOT a live-in care job. We need about 3 days a week for 3-5 hours a day.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
