Your mission: Drive change 🎯

We’re looking for an experienced Backend Team Lead to guide the technical direction of our services, mentor and grow engineers, and ensure that our backend and QA teams deliver high-quality, resilient products. If you are passionate about leadership, architecture, and driving impactful work at scale — we’d love to hear from you. Our current focus is on three major initiatives:

• The Paper Trading system, which allows millions of users to explore trading mechanics and engage with real market tools — without risking their money.

• The Leap , a platform for international trading competitions, where top traders from around the world compete for sponsor-backed prizes.

How you’ll shape success 🏆

• Lead backend and QA teams: plan and prioritize tasks, distribute workload, and oversee execution

• Define and drive architectural decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance

• Write production-ready backend code (about 30–40% of your time) while focusing the rest on leadership, architecture, and team development

• Mentor engineers and QA specialists: conduct regular 1:1s, support career growth, and foster a collaborative culture. We use Java, Go, Akka, RabbitMQ, Kafka, PostgreSQL, REST, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Docker.
  

• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to deliver cohesive solutions

• Oversee code quality, testing practices, and CI/CD processes to maintain high engineering standards

• Ensure timely delivery of features and continuous improvement of development workflows

What makes you the perfect fit 🤝

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience with Java (Go)

• Proven track record of leading backend development teams (3+ members)

• Experience managing or collaborating with QA teams (manual + automation)

• Strong knowledge of service-oriented architecture, REST, and distributed systems

• Solid understanding of databases (PostgreSQL) and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ)

• Experience with system design, performance optimization, and scaling high-load services

• Strong grasp of software engineering practices: OOP, design patterns, testing, CI/CD

• Effective communication skills in English (B2+)
