People Ops Specialist (12 month FTC)
About us:
YuLife is an award-winning InsurTech company and an employee benefit provider.
We’re the world’s first “lifestyle insurance company. While other insurers are there for people at the point of death or illness, we engage with people every day to help them live better lives. To do that, we’ve built an award-winning app that rewards people for building healthy habits. It includes the best wellbeing and digital health tools in the world. Customers can earn vouchers from great brands like Amazon, Tesco or ASOS for doing simple things like walking or practicing mindfulness. They can even do good by planting trees or cleaning the oceans from the app. Our clients include Tesco and Fujitsu, and we’ve been ranked the #1 employee benefit in the UK on Trustpilot. More recently, YuLife was recognized by CX Insurance Awards as ‘Best Insurtech 2024’ and the 8th Fastest Growing Technology Company in the UK in the prestigious 2023 Deloitte Technology Fast 50.The role:
What You'll Be Doing:
- You'll uphold our people processes with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all HR administration is executed flawlessly. This includes managing HRIS (Hibob) data, payroll inputs, benefits administration, and compliance requirements, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- You'll play a vital role in supporting the execution of our people strategy, contributing directly to the successful delivery of key projects from planning to implementation. This includes supporting initiatives around employee engagement and talent development.
- You'll demonstrate a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges throughout the entire employee lifecycle – from onboarding and retention to offboarding. You'll readily engage with issues even outside your immediate area of expertise, collaborating across the People team and wider business to ensure positive outcomes for our employees.
- You'll forge strong, collaborative relationships across the business, becoming a go-to advisor for people-related matters. You'll provide first-line support to employees and managers, guiding them through policies, processes, and our People Tech stack with a helpful and knowledgeable approach.
- You'll actively look for ways to improve our employee journeys and processes, suggesting and implementing improvements that align with our tech-forward and wellbeing-focused culture. You'll contribute to the seamless operation of our HR systems, leveraging technology to automate and streamline tasks where possible.
Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage Our HRIS: Take primary ownership of our HRIS (HiBob), ensuring data accuracy, generating reports, and optimising its use to enhance People operations and self-service.
- Handle People Administration: Oversee all essential HR administrative tasks with precision, including contracts (UK & Overseas), new hire/leaver processing, data changes and benefits enrolment, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
- Partner with Managers for Insights: Collaborate closely with managers to understand their team's people-related challenges and opportunities, gathering crucial insights to effectively report back to the Head of People and inform strategic HR decisions.
- Respond to People Queries: Serve as a friendly and knowledgeable first point of contact for employee and manager queries on HR policies, benefits, and general operations, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Support Onboarding & Offboarding: Play a crucial role in creating seamless onboarding experiences and managing offboarding processes, ensuring compliance and a positive experience.
- Contribute to People Projects: Actively collaborate with the People team on key strategic initiatives, including engagement, wellbeing and talent development, supporting their full lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience (2+ years) in a People/HR Operations or HR Administrator role, ideally within a fast-paced, scale-up, or tech environment.
- A genuine passion for supporting employees and creating an outstanding employee experience.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate needs and independently tackle challenges, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail are crucial for managing accurate data and processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust across all levels of the organisation.
- Comfortable with HRIS systems (experience with HiBob is a bonus!), applicant tracking systems, and a general enthusiasm for leveraging technology to improve processes.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Basic understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.
This role is not for you if:
- You prefer a perfectly clear map over an exciting adventure – a fast-paced scale-up thrives on a healthy dose of ambiguity and change!
- "Close enough" is your motto. We champion meticulous attention to detail because even small errors can have big impacts in People Ops.
- Learning something new every day sounds exhausting, not exhilarating. We're looking for someone with a true growth mindset who's always keen to evolve.
- You're a lone wolf. Our teamwork is how we achieve great things, and we believe the best ideas come from collaborating with others.
