This is a rewarding opportunity for a support professional with experience working with male adults to join our dedicated organisation.
You will play a vital part in dismantling long-held stigmas, using your expertise to shape a broader dialogue and influence how communities understand and respond to male trauma and recovery.
In return, you’ll be nurtured with the same care you offer others, supported through expert training, thoughtful supervision, and reflective practice to ensure you’re never alone as you stand alongside those who need it most.
The Role
As a Men’s DVA Support Worker at Housing for Women, you will provide practical and emotional outreach support to male survivors of domestic abuse in a safe, respectful, and empowering way.
Specifically, you will deliver one-to-one support via in-person outreach, phone, and digital communication, carrying out risk assessments and creating safety plans tailored to each individual’s needs.
Working collaboratively with partner agencies, you will co-ordinate care and advocate on behalf of service users, while raising awareness and challenging stigma around male experiences of domestic abuse.
In this multifaceted role, you will assist with housing, legal, benefit, and health-related matters, while also monitoring personalised support plans that reflect the goals and progress of each individual.
Additionally, you will:
- Promote service awareness through outreach, training, and community education
- Respond to safeguarding concerns in line with policy and statutory procedures
- Maintain accurate, confidential service records and update relevant databases
- Participate in audits, supervision, and service reviews
About You
To be considered as a Men’s DVA Support Worker, you will need:
- A minimum of 18 months’ experience working with male adults in a support setting
- Experience undertaking individual assessments and delivering support plans
- Experience and understanding of lone working risks
- Experience of building professional relationships internally and externally
- Experience using Microsoft Office or equivalent, including Outlook, Word and Excel
- A thorough understanding of safeguarding protocols
- Strong crisis management and decision-making skills
- The ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- A good understanding of confidentiality, data protection and professional boundaries
- Educated to NVQ Level 3, A Level standard, or equivalent practice-based experience
