Senior Safety and Compliance Officer - Fire
Are you a safety and compliance specialist with a background in working in the Fire sector? We have a permanent opportunity as a Senior Safety & Compliance Officer , within our Building Safety Team. You'll be based from our offices in Wembley with the opportunity to combine office and home working to ensure a positive work/life balance.
The Role
The position is technical and will ensure that SNG is compliant with their landlord responsibilities and adhere to regulations and legislation. You will work with the Safety and Compliance Specialist – Fire and provide robust management in all areas of fire related activities. Utilise technical expertise in passive and active fire measures, and in-depth practical knowledge of fire risk assessments and mitigating risks.
The role will ensure high level contract management and resolve problems. Responsible for the effective development, oversight and management of all fire related cyclical servicing, inspection, and upgrade programmes.
Responsibilities include
- Lead on all elements of contract management relating to the current and future contract management of fire activities in a transparent manner, including identifying, recording, and addressing underperformance and breaches
- Responsible for the development of cyclical inspection, upgrade and works programmes relating to fire aspects, ensuring that all activities are centralised and evidenced within the building safety compliance team
- Work collaboratively with the Safety and Compliance Specialist - Fire to ensure alignment across all regions
- Deliver and monitor fire safety compliance areas and ensure that SNG adheres to its regulatory, legislative and landlord obligations. Responsible for the organisation receiving competent advice and guidance
- Support the ongoing development and monitoring of the methodology relating to current and future fire activities ensuring scope specifics are documented, fully detailed, and reviewed alongside any regulatory changes to ensure SNG's compliance
- Prepare, monitor and deliver performance reports and updates against directorate and organisational targets and requirements
- Manage the direct report with a focus on articulating a clear vision, providing direction, and fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement
We are looking for someone who has
- Experience of working to deadlines and achieving targets through own work and work driven through teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Up to date knowledge of fire safety legislation
- Demonstratable knowledge and experience of fire safety subject matters within the Housing Sector
Qualifications
- Level 4 qualification in Fire Safety
- Membership of the IFE / IFSM or an equivalent membership body
- Award in Practical Fire Risk Assessment such as IFE of CS Todd
