The Year 5 Teacher will be expected to plan in the weeks prior to January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and teach from January 2026 in a role that blends excellent classroom practice with contribution to whole school improvement.
A week in the life - Year 5 Teacher
Mornings: the Year 5 Teacher leads mathematics and English sequences as the Year 5 Teacher, focusing on reasoning, compositional writing and vocabulary development. Afternoons: the Year 5 Teacher delivers practical STEM and humanities projects as the Year 5 Teacher, runs booster sessions and prepares transition materials for Year 6. The Year 5 Teacher will liaise with parents and the leadership team and will contribute to enrichment activities at the Independent School.
Year 5 Teacher Responsibilities
The Year 5 Teacher will plan ambitious learning sequences as the Year 5 Teacher, use assessment to adapt teaching as the Year 5 Teacher, and lead targeted interventions as the Year 5 Teacher. The Year 5 Teacher will organise trips, support creative curriculum weeks and help prepare pupils for the next stage. The Year 5 Teacher will be in post from January 2026 and will continue CPD after January 2026.
Year 5 Teacher Requirements
Applicants should be a qualified Year 5 Teacher with QTS or equivalent and experience of Upper KS2. The Year 5 Teacher must be available for pre-term planning prior to January 2026, for induction in January 2026, and to teach from January 2026.
