Computer Science Teacher - High-Achieving Secondary...
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Paid to scale (Outer London Framework)
The Role
A premier, high-achieving Secondary Academy in Barking & Dagenham is seeking a professional, highly analytical, and exceptionally organised Computer Science Teacher to join their expanding STEM faculty. This role represents a brilliant opportunity to champion digital literacy and advanced computing skills within a heavily resourced department featuring modern network laboratories, dedicated programming suites, and hardware prototyping tools.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day instructional leadership across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. The timetable will involve delivering a rich, challenging curriculum covering software development architecture, computational logic, algorithm design, and network systems at A-Level, alongside data representation, cyber security frameworks, and software programming at GCSE. Beyond classroom teaching, responsibilities include constructing comprehensive student tracking portfolios, implementing targeted technical intervention tracks for code fluency, managing parental correspondence, and actively leading the school’s competitive coding clubs, robotics leagues, and regional hackathons.
You will act as a primary link with parents, examination boards, and local technology networks, requiring absolute professionalism and data accuracy at all times. Strong organisational skills are a prerequisite, as you will balance heavy mock diagnostic marking cycles with real-time digital progress logging and practical code debugging cycles within a busy secondary school framework.

This is an 11 to 18 well-established Academy in Barking & Dagenham with a powerful commitment to technical innovation, academic rigor, and student wellbeing. The school serves an ambitious regional community and is known for its modern learning environments and state-of-the-art STEM resources. Staff benefit from an open, collaborative professional culture, highly visible leadership, a manageable administrative load, and an excellent framework for targeted career progression and specialized training.
Requirements
A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Proven experience teaching Computer Science specifications up to GCSE and A-Level
Strong data literacy and IT skills, with complete confidence using digital learning tracking systems
Professional and proactive approach to monitoring pupil metrics and target tracking data
Ability to work effectively and adaptably within a fast-paced, high-tech department
