1. To create regular menus which are culturally appropriate, within the set budget whilst managing levels of waste.
2. To comply with all food safety, manual handling, infection control and COSHH procedures.
3. To meet with the college tutor and plan the educational pathway based on the students educational needs.
4. Mentor and coach all placements through their course in compliance with the college education programme and in line with local guidelines.
5. To be responsible for the wellbeing and development of all service users’ placements.
6. To prepare dishes on a daily basis that meet the nutritional needs of the people we support and ensure there is always choice.
7. Order and receive all dry, fresh and frozen goods. Liaise with management team for budget
8. Maintain levels of stock in good condition, at the correct temperatures in line with food safety guidance.
9. Complete inventory and stock rotation.
10. Adhoc in house event catering and hospitality will be required.
To provide a wide variety of balanced, culturally appropriate meals for people with learning and physical disabilities and autism.
To coach and mentor service users to gain experience in food preparation and safety.
To be responsible for the ordering, maintaining and stocktaking of all goods relating to the kitchen
Award in Food Safety in Catering
Experience of mentoring and coaching those with learning difficulties
Experience of developing menus that are culturally appropriate
Diploma in Professional Cookery
Experience of independently running a small kitchen
Experience in supporting people with learning and physical disabilities.
Experience of adapting food consistencies for those under guidance from a speech and language therapist.
Experience of catering events for 80+ people
Knowledge and experience of baking sweet and savoury pastries, pies and cakes from scratch.
