An ambitious and inclusive secondary school in Hounslow is seeking a driven and intellectually curious Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor to join their thriving Humanities department from September 2025 . This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate aspiring to pursue a career in teaching or educational research.
About the Role – Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor
As a Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor , you will play a key role in supporting the academic progress and engagement of students across Humanities subjects. Working closely with subject specialists, you will help students develop critical thinking, analytical writing, and independent study skills.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering 1:1 and small group academic interventions.
- Supporting students with essay structure, source analysis, and revision strategies.
- Assisting in the classroom and tailoring support for a range of learning needs.
- Creating engaging and high-quality resources and learning materials.
- Encouraging debate, inquiry, and intellectual curiosity.
- Collaborating with teachers to track and support student progress.
What We’re Looking For – Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor
This role is ideal for a graduate with a strong academic record and a desire to inspire and mentor young learners.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A 2:1 degree or above in a Humanities-related subject (e.g., History, Geography, Politics, Philosophy, Religious Studies, or Classics).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine passion for the Humanities and a desire to share it with others.
- A proactive, empathetic, and professional approach.
- The ability to build rapport with students and support their learning journey.
- Previous experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, outreach) is desirable but not essential.
