Job Description

Baxterstorey is seeking a skilled and passionate Barista to join our team in London, United Kingdom. As a Barista, you will be responsible for crafting exceptional coffee beverages and providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, including espresso-based beverages, using high-quality ingredients and proper techniques
  • Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment
  • Create visually appealing latte art to enhance the customer experience
  • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, using the point-of-sale (POS) system
  • Handle cash and card transactions with precision and integrity
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing product recommendations and answering queries about coffee offerings
  • Stay up-to-date with coffee trends and Baxterstorey's menu to effectively communicate with customers
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours
  • Assist in inventory management and stock rotation

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Barista or in a similar customer-facing role
  • Excellent knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and ability to operate espresso machines
  • Demonstrated skill in latte art and presentation of coffee beverages
  • Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining attention to detail
  • Proficiency in cash handling and using POS systems
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
  • Food safety certification is desirable
  • Passion for coffee and willingness to continually learn about coffee beans, roasts, and brewing methods
