This role is a dedicated Environment Manager for the King’s Cross Estate. It requires service delivery within our Property Management division, focusing on the implementation of the King’s Cross ESG Strategy. The successful candidate will be site-based.

Working with the client’s ESG team and King’s Cross Estate Property Management team, this role involves leading the implementation of environmental sustainability strategies, managing partnerships, and embedding environmental sustainability into business operations and procurement processes. Responsibilities include supporting with annual ESG reports, managing environmental compliance and driving environmental initiatives, and regularly reporting progress, key risks and opportunities to the client team.

A key focus will be supporting the site-based property management team in the delivery of asset-level sustainability performance and promoting best practices. The successful candidate must have the ability to develop strong working relationships with clients, surveyors and site teams to lead on strategic deliverables and grow client and occupier relationships.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate should have a holistic knowledge of sustainability and wider environmental, social and governance issues for the built environment.

The Environment Manager will be required to deliver services including but not limited to;

King’s Cross ESG Strategy Implementation:

· Work closely with the client’s ESG team to support the implementation of the King’s Cross ESG strategy, as set by the client, and coordinate the Property Management team’s efforts accordingly, including working closely with the supply chain.

Environmental Compliance and ESG Data Reporting:

· Manage environmental regulatory and legal compliance requirements relevant to building services operations and facilities management, including MEES and s106 requirements

· Maintain the King’s Cross Estate EPC Register and keep the wider team and client updated with upcoming expiries and proposed improvements.

· Manage the King’s Cross Estate Environmental Management System, including the external audit and certification to ISO 14001.

· Work closely with the Energy Manager to manage the Energy Management System and ISO 50001 certification.

· Collate and manage ESG performance data, reporting to King’s Cross Estate senior management and the client team.

· Collate and report ESG performance data to industry bodies (e.g. BBP REEB), as requested by the client.

· Extract, analyse and interpret data from a variety of sources (e.g. energy, water, waste, air quality), working with site and engineering teams.

· Assess and monitor sustainability performance at an asset level, identifying priorities and the implementation of interventions.

Delivering Net Zero:

· Work with the Energy Manager, Engineering teams and Property Managers to understand and support the delivery of energy reduction and efficiency projects, and the King’s Cross Estate Net Zero strategy.

Connecting with Nature:

· Facilitate annual green roof monitoring by the appointed consultant.

· Support delivery of green infrastructure and nature strategies to increase biodiversity.

Creating Health Spaces:

· Manage the King’s Cross Area Travel Plan and work with occupiers to ensure the achievement and improvement of sustainable travel targets. Work with the appointed consultant to undertake a bi-annual travel survey.

· Engage with King’s Cross Estate strategic partners, including the London Borough of Camden (e.g. sustainability and transport teams).

· Support teams to maintain individual property WELL Health Safety Ratings.

· Support the coordination of estate air quality monitoring.

Creating a Circular Economy:

· Manage the onsite waste service partner to reduce overall waste production and track performance against intensity metrics. Ensure the highest levels of recycling and reuse.

· Working with occupiers and Property Managers, identify partnerships and implement circular economy opportunities.

· Promote and support circular economy projects and partnerships.

Maximising our Social Impact:

· Work with the Social Value Manager to support delivery of the King’s Cross Estate Social Value Strategy.

Stakeholder Engagement, Communications and Policies:

· Lead meetings with internal and external stakeholders, share environmental data, information and insights, promoting innovation.

· Produce and deliver ESG training to colleagues, client team and occupiers on environmental topics.

· Attend and contribute to the quarterly King’s Cross Environmental Occupier Forum, and maintain good relationships with occupiers to progress projects/initiatives between Forum meetings.

· Be the sustainability point of contact on the ground, supporting occupiers and the property management teams, including site-based managers, surveying teams working centrally, and service partners.

· Promote and implement external sustainability standards and apply for sustainability awards.

· Produce case studies and marketing materials demonstrating team and asset-level success.

· Represent King’s Cross Estate at industry events (e.g. Camden Climate Change Alliance events/meetings).

· Maintain the Sustainability Handbook, ensuring it is up to date with all occupier-relevant initiatives and platforms.

· Regularly review and update ESG-related policies, identifying gaps and promoting best practices.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

· Strong attention to detail and produces work to a high, consistent and accurate standard.

· Ability to independently prepare findings reports and presentations, and to identify new ways of working.

· Excellent communication skills and ability to develop lasting and effective relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally.

· Customer orientated – ability to be client facing; excellent communicator and presenter.

· Highly motivated individual with a drive for self-development.

· Excellent time management. Can deliver work under pressure and to fixed deadlines.

· Resourceful team worker, with the ability to be autonomous in certain specialist fields.

· An evident passion for Sustainability.

· Ability to proofread professional documents with strong English, grammar and spelling skills.

Required

· BSc/BA Degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Sustainability or equivalent

· Professional membership with IEMA, CIBSE or equivalent

· Knowledge and experience of applying sustainability in property management.

· Experience of working with sustainability data, including carbon, energy, water and waste.

· Completely IT literate with a high level of competence in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

· Experienced with data analysis, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to create complex formulas.

· Experienced in producing and delivering training material and presentations.

Desired

· MSc or MEng in Environmental Management/Sustainability or equivalent.

· Experience with WELL H&S, GRESB, SECR, ESOS and SBTi.

· Competency in leveraging AI tools to enhance efficiency and insight generation.

Working Hours - 09:00-17:30 Monday - Friday
