Setting: Mainstream Primary School
A supportive and inclusive mainstream primary school in Wandsworth (SW18) is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work on a long-term basis, providing 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil with ASD, ADHD, and dysregulated behaviour.
This role requires a calm, resilient, and consistent practitioner who can build a trusting relationship with the pupil and provide the stability and continuity essential to their progress and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored 1:1 support throughout the school day, both in and out of the classroom
Implement strategies to support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to follow individual support plans
Support the pupil's social interaction and inclusion within the wider school environment
Maintain accurate observations and contribute to reviews and progress discussions
Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times
Requirements:
Proven experience supporting children with special educational needs, particularly ASD and ADHD
Experience managing or supporting dysregulated or challenging behaviour
Ability to commit on a long-term basis to provide consistency and continuity
A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach
Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a wider team
This position would suit an experienced Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and committed to making a long-term difference in a mainstream primary setting.
