The Role

The school is seeking a creative, technically skilled, and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to deliver engaging lessons across KS3–KS5 . In this role, you will inspire students to develop a sophisticated understanding of food preparation, the science of ingredients, and the importance of a healthy, sustainable diet.

You will have the opportunity to teach a broad curriculum, from fundamental culinary skills at KS3 to advanced Food Preparation and Nutrition at GCSE and potentially specialized Level 3 qualifications. You will contribute to a dynamic department that values innovation, supporting curriculum development and delivering practical lessons that challenge students to experiment with flavors, techniques, and global cuisines.

Person Specification

  • Qualified Food Technology Teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field

  • Proven experience teaching Food Technology/Nutrition at GCSE (A-Level or vocational experience is also desirable)

  • Excellent culinary skills and a genuine passion for food education

  • In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety and food hygiene regulations (Level 2/3 Food Safety certificate preferred)

  • Ability to inspire, challenge, and engage students with both the practical and theoretical aspects of the subject

  • Commitment to contributing to the wider school community, including bake-offs, catering for school events, or healthy eating initiatives
