Key responsibilities

As a Cloud Technical Architect at Scale Factory, you’ll:

• Engage regularly with customers, acting as the technical point of contac t across your project engagements.

• Lead technical delivery across projects, helping define implementation approaches, prioritise technical work, manage risks and guide junior colleagues.

• Perform technical discovery, translating business requirements into detailed technical designs and implementation plans.

• Design, build and implement cloud solutions , working hands-on with engineering teams to deliver robust and maintainable platforms.

• Act as a technical authority across project delivery and internal technical initiatives, setting engineering standards and guiding implementation decisions .

• Communicate effectively with colleagues, customers and third parties to resolve technical challenges and ensure successful delivery.

• Stay up to date with emerging technologies, cloud services and engineering best practices.

• Solve complex technical challenges through practical problem-solving, innovation and hands-on engineering.

• Drive continuous improvement across projects through better engineering practices, automation and technical standards.

What we're looking for

We’re seeking a talented, passionate AWS Cloud Technical Architect to join our growing team. To be successful, you’ll combine deep technical expertise with strong communication skills, taking ownership of technical design, implementation and delivery while guiding engineering teams to build secure, scalable and maintainable cloud platforms.

Key skills & experience:

• Eligibility for Security Clearance

• Excellent Communication: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders at all levels, influence technical decisions and produce high-quality technical documentation.

• Technical Problem-Solving: Proven ability to resolve complex technical challenges, assess engineering trade-offs and make sound decisions across large-scale cloud environments.

• DevOps Expertise: Deep understanding of DevOps principles, platform engineering and modern software delivery practices, with experience establishing and improving engineering standards.

• Technical Leadership: Proven experience leading technical delivery, setting engineering direction, reviewing designs and implementations, managing technical risks and mentoring engineers.

• AWS Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience designing, building and operating complex AWS environments, with a strong understanding of security, scalability, resilience, performance and cost optimisation.

• Technical Architecture: Proven ability to translate architectural designs into detailed technical implementations across complex cloud platforms, legacy workloads, microservices and containerised environments.

• CI/CD & Deployment Automation: Extensive experience designing, implementing and improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation using tools such as GitHub, GitLab or AWS developer tooling.

• Networking Knowledge: Expert understanding of cloud networking, including virtual networks, routing, DNS, gateways, load balancers, hybrid connectivity and network security.

• Security & Compliance: Strong experience implementing security by design, AWS security services such as IAM, WAF and KMS, and controls aligned with compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 and PCI DSS.

• Infrastructure as Code: Extensive experience designing and implementing Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK or equivalent, establishing reusable patterns and best practices.

• Scripting & Automation: Strong practical scripting and automation skills using Python, Ansible, Bash, Groovy, PowerShell or similar, applying them to solve complex engineering challenges and improve delivery efficiency.

Desirable skills:

• Azure or Google Cloud Experience: Ability to compare and contrast cloud offerings, especially in a migration scenario.

• AWS Professional Certifications
