Middle Office Desk Support Analyst

HSBC Global Services Limited
London

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Middle Office Desk Support Analyst.

The secondary loan trading operations team provides global operations support for the loan sales and trading team within private credit across the UK, US and Asia balance sheets, delivering end-to-end support for secondary loans and closing-only support for primary loans. The London middle office team supports secondary loans booked under the UK and US balance sheets, including capture and maintenance of loan trades and oversight of front office/back-office trade reconciliations to ensure accurate booking in relevant systems for risk and settlement. You will be responsible for day-to-day processing and related controls, managing queries, and completing follow-up actions as required by procedure and delegation.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you’ll:

  • Maintain awareness of inbound and outbound workflows to ensure functions are delivered effectively and on time, while ensuring all documentation and record retention meet procedural and audit requirements
  • Provide support as necessary to change initiatives, incident follow up and delegated actions related to the systems, process, controls and enhancements
  • Receive instructions from agents, front office/middle office teams and workflow queues, analyse them to confirm authority to proceed, and escalate appropriately based on complexity and risk in line with agreed processes
  • Manage per-asset confidentiality processes with trading counterparties and respond promptly to internal and external queries on trades, positions and corporate actions
  • Investigation and resolution of trade related TLM FOBO (trade) exceptions
  • Ensure settlement instructions are loaded into the loan trading system from the market platform (or follow up with counterparties where missing) and maintain robust know-your-customer and customer due diligence controls for counterparties and allocated funds as required
  • Book, amend and cancel trades and pre-settlement allocations in the loan trading system in line with business instructions, and process the sales credits report and associated controls
  • Maintain clear, high-standard communication with HSBC desks and counterparties on public/private status and confidentiality, and escalate appropriately on all risk, processing and confidentiality matters

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • A strong background in secondary loan trading and knowledge of Loan IQ is mandatory
  • The ability to deliver high-quality work with strong attention to detail, maintaining standards and accuracy under tight deadlines and pressure
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both internal stakeholders and external clients
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work to ensure transaction deadlines are achieved, escalating appropriately where needed with a proactive problem-solving attitude
  • Adanced Excel and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Sentry, ClearPar or TLM is very beneficial

Opening up a world of opportunity.

Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve.
