Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, class teachers, and parents, you will manage daily attendance reporting, identify patterns of absence, and implement positive interventions. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to an organized, empathetic, and proactive individual.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day pupil attendance tracking and maintain accurate records using school management systems
Conduct first-day absence calls and follow up on unexplained pupil absences promptly
Coordinate with parents, carers, and external local authority inclusion teams to address persistent absence
Prepare attendance data, audit-ready reports, and summaries for the Senior Leadership Team
Organize attendance panel meetings and implement rewards to celebrate positive pupil attendance
Maintain compliance with statutory safeguarding and attendance reporting regulations
Provide compassionate, professional support to families facing barriers to regular school attendance
Support the smooth day-to-day administrative running of the pastoral department

Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience as an Attendance Officer or Pastoral Administrator in a primary school setting
Proficiency with school management software (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, or CPOMS)
Strong knowledge of attendance procedures, safeguarding, and local authority reporting frameworks
Exceptional communication and de-escalation skills when liaising with parents and carers
High attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities
A proactive, empathetic, and flexible approach to pupil welfare
