QUANT SYSTEMS DEVELOPER – High Performance Trading Infrastructure
London – Hybrid
£100,000-150,000 + bonus
Quant Capital is recruiting on behalf of a leading global quant investment firm seeking a Systems Developer to join its high-impact technology group in London. This role is part of a core engineering team focused on building and maintaining the backbone infrastructure supporting high-performance trading and large-scale research.
In this hands-on role, you will gain significant exposure to distributed systems, high-throughput computing, and low-latency infrastructure. You’ll work on complex technical challenges that directly influence the firm’s ability to process data and execute strategies at scale.
Role Responsibilities
As a member of the core systems engineering team, you will:
- Design, develop, and maintain large-scale compute and storage systems used across trading and research functions
- Work on the architecture and implementation of distributed workload scheduling, fleet orchestration, and performance tuning across a large server estate
- Build internal tools for managing system performance, reliability, and software lifecycles (SDLC)
- Tackle performance bottlenecks across kernel, file system, and network layers to support low-latency, high-throughput applications
- Contribute to infrastructure monitoring, data collection pipelines, and real-time analytics
- Collaborate across teams to align system design with evolving trading and research requirements
Skills and Experience:
- A strong interest in how systems work under the hood, paired with a practical, engineering-first mindset
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience (up to 5 years)
- Solid programming ability in one or more of the following: Python, Golang, Rust , or similar
- Experience with Linux-based environments and knowledge of networking fundamentals is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills and ability to operate in a collaborative, high-performance environment
- Strong organizational and time-management capabilities
- Curiosity, initiative, and the ability to take ownership of complex problems matter more than specific prior industry experience
