Location: Islington, London
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

School Information
A well-established secondary school in Islington is seeking an experienced and organised School Office Manager to oversee its busy administrative office. The school is committed to providing a positive learning environment where pupils are supported to achieve their potential, and it recognises the importance of an efficient administration team in maintaining high standards across the organisation.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for coordinating the day-to-day running of the school office, supporting administrative colleagues and ensuring that parents, pupils, staff and visitors receive a professional and helpful service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational and communication skills who enjoys taking responsibility and improving administrative processes.
The Role
The School Office Manager will oversee the daily operation of the main office, ensuring that administrative tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. The postholder will coordinate workloads, maintain office procedures and support colleagues in managing competing priorities.
Responsibilities will include overseeing reception arrangements, managing telephone and email enquiries, monitoring incoming correspondence and ensuring that information is directed to the appropriate departments. The successful applicant will help maintain accurate pupil records, oversee filing systems and ensure that confidential documents are handled appropriately.
The role will involve supporting the administration of pupil admissions, attendance records, staff communications and school events. The Office Manager will liaise with senior leaders and teaching staff to ensure that deadlines are met and that essential information is communicated effectively.
The postholder will also assist with reviewing administrative procedures, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and ensuring that office systems remain organised and accessible. They may be responsible for coordinating staff rotas, monitoring office supplies and supporting the induction of new administrative team members.
A professional and approachable manner will be essential, particularly when dealing with parents and visitors who may require assistance with sensitive matters. The successful candidate will need to remain calm under pressure, resolve routine issues independently and escalate concerns to senior colleagues when appropriate.
Requirements
Applicants should have previous experience in school administration, office management or a similar administrative leadership role. Strong organisational skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and database systems are essential.
Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to coordinate a team and experience handling confidential information. Familiarity with school management information systems, admissions procedures or attendance administration would be advantageous.
The successful applicant must be proactive, dependable and comfortable managing several responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy and customer service.
What the School Offers
The school offers the opportunity to take a leading role in its administrative operations, working closely with senior leaders and support staff. The successful candidate will have scope to improve office systems, coordinate colleagues and contribute to the smooth running of the wider school.
