Associate, Commercial Technology - Leading Global Law Firm (3-8 PQE)

Job description

Our client, a leading international law firm, is seeking a Commercial Associate to join its highly regarded Technology and Digital Transactions team in London. The group advises some of the most innovative global companies and investors across industries such as media, telecommunications, financial services, and digital infrastructure.

This role offers exposure to high-value, multi-jurisdictional matters involving technology transformation, outsourcing, joint ventures, and strategic commercial collaborations. You’ll work closely with senior business leaders and cross-functional teams to help clients navigate digital, regulatory, and contractual challenges in a rapidly evolving commercial landscape.

The Role

As part of this dynamic and forward-thinking group, the successful candidate will:

• Advise on complex cross-border commercial technology transactions , including business separations, carve-outs, outsourcing, and procurement projects.
• Draft, negotiate, and manage key commercial agreements involving software, cloud services, data, and digital platforms.
• Support clients through strategic technology-led M&A , joint ventures, and partnership structures.
• Supervise junior team members and contribute to internal training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with lawyers across corporate, IP, data protection, competition, employment, finance, and tax teams to deliver integrated legal solutions.
• Engage in client relationship development and support the firm’s business development and thought leadership activities.

Candidate Profile

• E&W qualified or equivalent
• 3-8 years PQE gained at a reputable law firm, with experience in commercial contracts, technology transactions, or digital business matters .
• Strong understanding of IT procurement, outsourcing, data licensing, and/or technology-driven M&A .
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills with a pragmatic and commercially minded approach.
• Experience managing multiple workstreams and collaborating across jurisdictions.
• A proactive and team-oriented attitude, with a genuine interest in the intersection of law, technology, and innovation.
