Role Summary

Strong Group are working with a well-established and growing international business based in Hayes who are looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant / Assistant to the Finance Director .

This is a key hire within the finance team, supporting a long-standing Finance Director across both day-to-day accounting and broader commercial finance activities. The role offers strong exposure to senior leadership and is ideal for someone looking to step into a more commercially involved finance position over time.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the Finance Director with day-to-day accounting and finance operations

• Assisting with preparation of management accounts, budgets, and forecasts

• Managing purchase ledger, supplier payments, and sales invoicing

• Performing bank reconciliations and maintaining the general ledger

• Supporting financial reporting, analysis, and performance tracking

• Assisting with VAT returns and compliance requirements

• Supporting credit control processes

• Working closely with internal teams to provide financial insight and support business performance

• Assisting with process improvements across finance systems and reporting

• Providing cover for the Finance Director when required

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Accounts Assistant / Finance Assistant role

• Experience supporting a senior finance lead (FD or Financial Controller preferred)

• Advanced Excel skills (essential) – due to use of a bespoke in-house system similar to Excel

• Experience using accounting software (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar)

• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail

• Able to work in a fast-paced, SME-style environment

• Proactive, reliable, and able to take ownership of workload

Qualifications

• AAT qualified or part-qualified (desirable)

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar (advantageous)

Working Pattern

• Hybrid working available

• 3 days office-based (Hayes)

• 2 days remote

Candidates must live within one hour of Hayes due to office attendance requirements.
