The Role
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support the learning and development of children aged 3–5. You will assist in delivering high-quality, play-based learning experiences that build foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, and social-emotional development.
You will also support children who require additional help, including those with SEN or EAL, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive. This role involves observing, monitoring, and recording children’s progress, as well as contributing to classroom planning and delivering targeted interventions where needed.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting children in whole-class, small-group, and one-to-one settings
Assisting in the delivery of play-based and structured learning activities
Supporting children’s personal, social, and emotional development
Helping to prepare classroom resources and learning materials
Monitoring and recording children’s progress and sharing observations with teachers
Working with children with SEN or EAL, supporting differentiated learning activities
Supporting classroom management and maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment
Assisting with school routines, transitions, and outdoor learning activities
Participating in staff meetings, training, and school initiatives
Supporting extracurricular activities, trips, and special events
The Ideal Candidate
The school is seeking an EYFS Teaching Assistant who:
Has experience supporting young children in a nursery or reception setting
Understands child development and early years pedagogy
Is patient, nurturing, and empathetic
Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
Can support children with additional needs or EAL
Demonstrates creativity in supporting play-based learning
Shows flexibility and adaptability in a busy classroom
Builds positive relationships with children, staff, and parents
Is enthusiastic and passionate about early years education
